Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?

---------------------------------//--------------------------------
"Men have called me mad; but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence -- whether much that is glorious -- whether all that is profound -- does not spring from disease of thought -- from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect. They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night. In their gray visions they obtain glimpses of eternity, and thrill, in awakening, to find that they have been upon the verge of the great secret. In snatches, they learn something of the wisdom which is of good, and more of the mere knowledge which is of evil. They penetrate, however, rudderless or compassless into the vast ocean of the "light ineffable," and again, like the adventures of the Nubian geographer, "agressi sunt mare tenebrarum, quid in eo esset exploraturi."

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - currently my favourite videogame (^^P) Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus Finally, FINALLY! I *finally* laid my hands on this game (x_x) and whattagame...! Though it's short (I've had it for 2 days and I'm already 4 chapters away from finishing it) I think it's worth it...! People complained about the less RPGish aspect, but I find I'm much happier with an action-oriented RPG. Nothing like that to blow off some steam, and we can still level up and customize weapons as we go, so it should please all tastes to a good extent. In my case, I'm enjoying it so much also because I was in love with the story long before I had the game. It's a pity the western version suppressed the Online Mode (as the Tsviets are so fascinating to me) but at least the unlockables and extra missions should keep me entertained for a long time after I finished the game (which is good, as I'm so close to the end already). I do think the levels could be less linear and the missions more than simply securing areas, and the game could be longer, but now that I played it overall I don't think the reviews did the game justice - after all, it's combat driven, not just about levelling the main character - so given that, I believe the greatest fault in the game is that the NPCs are rather stupid and easy to beat. The tougher bosses aren't smart either, just annoying, but at least they force you to keep moving and to equip the weapons/plan the attack accordingly instead of practically sitting there waiting for you to shoot them down. The snipers are more thrilling than regular DG troops, if only for their locations and sometimes scarce visibility, but when we zoom on them they're not looking for the position where the player is supposed to be, but rather looking around in a dumb way (even when there's only one way we could enter their line of fire x) which is kind of funny) but at least they still force you to use your brain by exploring the terrain and look for cover and vantage points, and that's the kind of challenge that's rewarding. The enemies don't seem to have trackers either, as would normally be expected in an action game. As far as the seiyuu go (of course I have to mention this): I'm playing it in English, meaning I'm not able to listen to that smexy Weiss [Jouji Nakata - who voices Hijikata from Peacemaker Kurogane - in unrelated topic, I got that manga for my sister for her birthday, along with the Sephiroth FF7AC official collectible figure... another *finally*
<3] or Vincent [Suzuki Shogo, who in my opinion actually resembles Vincent physically, though he looks even more stunning and is real (@@,) heh] but on the other hand there's the impossibly sweet voice of Jamieson Price (who does the dubbing for Naoe in Mirage of Blaze) that voices none other than the beautiful Reeve - for which reason alone I could never trade the English version for the original Japanese. In short, I'm really happeeee with the game as it is. Wheew x) I just made a review here (how quaint) I guess I'll take this down later, when I'm done basking in the glory of finally having DoC.

Journal
A couple of days ago I was preparing my essay on phoenician harbours and I started discussing with my grandfather about "alvenaria" (which is basically masonry). Outside it was dark already but he took a flashlight and asked me to go with him downstairs to the backyard so he would show me a structure similar to the ones we'd been talking about. We went to the far end of the yard, which is full of rubble, plants and bushes, and some trees (including a very old lemon-tree which was very fun to climb when my sister and I were kids heheh). We stopped at the end of the backyard facing a sort of solid shack to store tools, old stuff, etc, and he pointed the flashlight at the masonwork bordering the left window - (the small house-like shack has a door and two windows on each side of it) - we were completely focused on the stonework, so in the dim light we didn't notice the gigantic cobweb that spread like a thick veil in front of the When we finished examining the masonry we finally focused on the cobweb - the biggest and most peculiar-looking spider I have ever seen [live] was hanging inches from my grandfather's face. It was horrible! Completely white (a dirty ivory white), 1 inch in diameter at the very least (not including the legs), the body itself was roundish and...well, massive!! At first I didn't believe it was a spider, because it was so huge, but then grandfather poked it with a stick and it moved sideways quick as lightning! I thought it looked like a sea crab because the legs were held sideways and also because it was so solid... (@@/) The funny part was then my grandfather hit it and we heard a dry sound as if the spider was made of wood (disgusting...!) but I guess it must have been a heavy blow to it because it fell and started bouncing on a string of silk from one side to the other as if it was unconscious. I felt a bit sorry for it lool but I think it must have lived, it just looked KO heheh xD I researched about it afterwards and found it was probably a Misumena vatia from the big family of the Thomisidae - in other words... Crab Spider (Aranha Caranguejeira ou Aranha-Caranguejo). They exist here in Portugal and are venomous, though the toxins they produce aren't particularly dangerous to us. Using stealth, they ambush the prey (big insects) so they plan the attacks - smart aren't they? - and - this is the coolest part --> they can change colour to camouflage themselves. Like the sea crab it can move sideways (I saw it do that) and even backwards. I'm pretty sure it belonged to the species I mentioned, though when in doubt, it's best to stay on the safe side, because even though only a small percentage of spiders are dangerous to humans, it still hurts for example when a bee stings (I even have coleagues that we bitten by scorpions during excavations x/ ) and a painful bite from a spider like this, with big skin-splitting fangs, adds to the disgusting factor as well (not to mention it could be potentially traumatic heheh). Besides, chances are this is no radioactive spider, so it won't give you any superpowers xD it's best to leave it alone... or use a flamethrower if you happen to have ... My grandfather said he never saw one so big here (when he lived in Africa he did, much bigger ones actually, but hey, it was Africa xD). I didn't take a photo of the spider because it was dark already and now it is probably g... but here is a photo I found on the net, really close to what I saw...
